Located near the City of Angels, the Riviera Country Club is the pinnacle of golf. This sublime course is ranked as one of the top 50 golf courses in the world, with 18 holes of golf that continue to challenge even the most elite golfers on the PGA TOUR.
This is a truly special course that navigates you through some less-than-ideal terrain. The layout is perfectly designed with the original landscape and weather conditions in mind; challenging par 5s that all play uphill, and long par 4s directly into the prevailing wind.
One of the most confounding elements of the Riviera is the punishing Kiyuku grass. This spongy vegetation is not long, but will trap your ball like Velcro. This will challenge any bump and run shots you want to play and will force you to hone in your pin-seeking skills. Any wayward tee shots will be gobbled up in the rough and make it difficult to get back into regulation play.
Featured Hole: 10th (315 yards, par 4)
Often described by golfers as “the best par-4 in the world,” the 10th hole at Riviera Country Club is truly something to behold.
At only 315 yards, don’t be fooled by its relatively short length; the driver might not necessarily be the best club selection. From the elevated tee, a mid-iron will safely evade the cross bunkers, but provide you with a tricky approach shot into a green that slopes dramatically right-to-left.
See whether you’re tempted by the bait of going for the green in one, or whether you will play it safe, in PGA TOUR 2K23.
