Host to the PGA TOUR’s annual Valspar Championship in March, The Copperhead Course is a favorite amongst the world’s most elite golfers. This is your chance to walk in the footsteps of some of the finest players the game has ever seen, and enjoy golf the way nature intended it.

The pine tree-lined fairways and rolling terrain are interspersed with lakes and ponds that help to create a majestic setting that’s teeming with wildlife. Initially designed by Larry Packard, and then opened in 1972, the Copperhead Course had a complete makeover in 2015. This is a lengthy challenge for even the longest hitters and is a must-play course on the PGA TOUR. Known as “The Snake Pit,” the closing three holes of the Copperhead Course make up a stretch that is as difficult as any in golf. These holes are beautifully designed but demand your full attention.

Featured Hole: No. 18 (443 yards, par 4)

The infamous “Snake Pit” consists of the par-4 16th (Moccasin), par-3 17th (Rattler), and par-4 18th (Copperhead). If you are lucky, skilled, and slick enough to slither your way through 16 and 17, then you’re faced with a golfing climax that is as cunning as they come. 

With an uphill approach, the 18th is the ultimate finishing hole. Bunkers can be found both long and short, which will punish any erratic, wayward shots. With a putting green that slopes precariously from back to front, the job is certainly not over, even if you find yourself on the green in two. 

Find yourself on the wrong tier to the flag, and you leave yourself with either a perilous downhill putt, or a challenging uphill putt. Both of which will make it difficult to get down in two and make par.
